Management and Staffing

Forest Kids encourages high levels of parental involvement. The Coordinator handles the day-to-day running of the Centre. A committee of the FFPS P&C oversees the overall management. All parents are encouraged to attend meetings, to take on management roles if they so desire, and to participate in events and working bees.

The staff to child ratio is 1:15 or less, which is in accordance with government regulations. The Centre can cater for up to 40 children in both sessions.

The current co-ordinator is Mel assisted by a second in charge and a team of casual staff. The Co-ordinator and the second in charge have a current first aid certificate.

Information booklets and enrolment forms can be collected from the Centre. Any questions/queries please phone Mel on (02)9975 3296.

Activities

Each week has a theme around which the activities, games etc are based. Parents can view this program and are invited to offer suggestions.

Some examples of the theme include, “Wheels Week”, where the children are invited to bring their bikes/scooters etc to the Centre, “Cooking Week”, or “A walk in the Jungle Week” - where the children all worked on a Jungle wall hanging.

At Forest Kids you child has the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of activities: - cooking, art & craft, group games, playing on the equipment, playing on the oval, board games, woodwork, pottery, plasticine, dress-ups, music & movement activities and stories to name but a few. Time and a quiet space is made available for those wishing to do homework or read.
